A friend of mine (Guido Ronnen) plays in a Dutch Texmex-band (Alegría).

Last year he had surgery on his back, therefore he couldn’t play his (chromatic) accordion, because it’s too heavy.

On the American site “reyes accordions”, I saw he had made a 34 button Corona II.

That’s how I got the idea to make a 37 button chromatic Corona II, including one register.

I took the reed blocks out of a chromatic accordion and made them fit the Corona.

It now has chromatic 3 octaves, from E3 till E6.

The backside of the keypad and the six buttons I took from a 40’s Corona, because the original keypad would have been to weak after remodeling it.

The register-stop I took from an old Cajun accordion. The accordion now only weighs 4,16 kg, as opposed to his normal chromatic button accordion, weighing 11kg.

By dry tuning the reeds, he now has a real texmex sound.
